Pair in Blackjack

A pair in blackjack is when your first two cards have the same value. Examples include two 8s, two Kings, or two Aces. Pairs give you the option to split into two separate hands.

10-Value Pairs

Any two 10-value cards count as a pair, even if they're different face cards. A King and a Queen is still a pair of 10s—though you should never split it.

Key Pair Rules

• Always split Aces and 8s
• Never split 10s or 5s
• Other pairs depend on the dealer's upcard
